English Horn Description and Features
The English horn is a longer, lower keyed oboe with a pear shaped end and curved neck. It produces a soft dreamy sad sound and is about eight to nine feet long, double the clarinet, and about twice as long as the bassoon. Its mouthpiece attaches to a long pipe and the tube is folded. It can make heavy, comical sounds and plays the lowest note in the orchestra.
