FAA funds airport expansion at Memorial Airport
Lawrence receives 300000 dollars from the Federal Aviation Administration to finish land purchases for Memorial Airport growth. First stage adds 900 feet to the current 3000-foot runway this summer, then a second 5000-foot runway will run northwest-southeast. Garnett Baker and Catering Service relocates to the courthouse square to open a bakery cafe with sandwiches salads bakers and drinks run by Ron and Roberta Romig. Burlington plans a Sally Jo Sanford Memorial in the new upper elementary library with a reading corner and a possible five percent of annual library book purchases donated to the Sally Jo Sanford Collection.
