The Federal Hammer Editorial on Construction Costs
The Ottawa Herald editorial critiques rising building costs driven by public sector spending and federal rules. It cites a Kansas City labor meeting showing 42 percent of last year’s construction spending was public and 85 percent federally funded, with a rush of dollars in peak months. It notes 50 percent of workers are nonunion yet unrepresented in decision making, creating discrimination and higher costs for taxpayers.
