Orioles suffer 5-2 loss as Royals erupt in sixth inning
Baltimore pitcher Mike Flanagan held a two-hitter until Amos Otis hit a two-out single that sparked a five-run Royals rally in the sixth inning. Eddie Murray earlier gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead with a solo homer, but Kansas City pulled away with a grand sequence including an inside-the-park homer by Porter and an ensuing error. The 1978 winless slump for Baltimore stretched to a dismal record.
