Allstate Ottawa office expands with new associate producer

At 114 E. 2nd Ottawa Allstate adds Kay Shaffer to staff in late March joining Bertie Wilson and Sylva Mignot. Shaffer brings 30 years in business ownership and management and will sell property and casualty insurance once licensed, already licensed in life and health. Wilson and Mignot complete the trio. Wilson previously ran an Allstate in Lawrence with six years insurance experience. Landmarked Canterbury Court apartments see new management by Landmark Management Group of Sioux City, with Pacific Cities Inc. of Tacoma, effective April 1.

Antique mall planned expansion in Ottawa continues

Ottawa antique mall owner Rorabaugh outlined plans to expand to about 100 dealer spaces after opening 53 current spaces with 30 reserved. A restaurant with 75 to 80 seats, a north end kitchen, and an area for classic cars are planned, plus accessibility upgrades. The mall will be open Tue Sun, closed Easter.

Silver Arrow to Move Inventory to New Orie Mall

Bob Lantis and his wife Lillian will relocate most of the Silver Arrow Trading Post inventory to the new Orie mall, leaving guns behind. The couple will open the Silver Arrow Flea Market Fridays through Sundays in early May, with space rented to Ottawa Flea Market vendors from the fire-destroyed market. Lantis also keeps a gun shop open at the North Main building Tuesdays through Sundays, and expects the mall to draw substantial Ottawa business.

The National Honor Society of Ottawa High School will host an Easter egg hunt for children in the Cyclone Room at 1120 S. Ash on Friday morning. NHS volunteers have set age group times: 3 and younger at 10:00, 4 to 6 at 10:30, and 7 and older at 11:30.
