Hydroelectric plans eyed for Wilson Lake site
Universal Electric Power Corp. has applied for a permit extension to study a two hydroelectric plant at Wilson Lake. The firm cites a new faster building method and expects a 2 MW unit costing about 2.0 million dollars, capable of powering roughly 1,500 homes, with regulatory hurdles noted as the main delay. Ed Parker of the Army Corps of Engineers warns low flows limit turbine viability in the Saline River basin.
