Rescuer visits Cosmosphere to see Liberty Bell 7 capsule
AP reports Curt Newport, who recovered the Liberty Bell 7 space capsule, visited the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson. Newport spent 14 years researching the recovery after the capsule sank near Bermuda in 1961 when a hatch opened prematurely. He cited declassified NASA documents and upper level winds aiding pinpointing the capsule's location and noted Gus Grissom was rescued.
