Northeast Blizzard Shuts Down Cities and Kills Four
A blizzard lashed the Northeast as the season’s worst storm, burying streets under two feet of snow and gusts to 75 mph. Four people died Tuesday in the region, with four hikers missing in New York’s Catskills, while New York Boston and New Jersey airports closed. Connecticut and Massachusetts cities declared emergencies, Hartford and others cleared abandoned cars, and Boston set a 65 year April snow record with I 495 closures after 50 vehicle pileups.
