Congress approves $62 billion for war, security, and aid

The Senate and House passed bills totaling about $62 billion to replenish defense funds for Iraq and Afghanistan, with roughly $8 billion for Iraqi reconstruction and foreign aid, over $4 billion for homeland security, and about $3 billion to aid airlines. China apologizes for SARS information failure in Foshan

China apologized for failing to inform the public about SARS and WHO investigators joined local officials in Foshan Guangdong to trace the outbreak. Lavon C Young obituary records life of Ottawa native

Lavon C Young, 87, formerly of Ottawa, died March 8, 2003, at Manor Health Care in Citrus Heights, California. Born September 27, 1915, in Ottawa to George and Mary Hayward, she grew up there, attended Ottawa High School, and married Swede Johnson before divorcing. She later married Mount Young, moved to Sacramento, and remained active at First Christian Church, Ottawa. Survived by son Ronnie Johnson of Olathe, grandson Ty Johnson of Rena, Michigan, granddaughter Teal Hermrick of Vassar, Kansas, and three great grandchildren. preceded in death by brother Millard Hayward and sister Ruby Mcintosh.
