Bulldogs optimistic as Toia builds revamped 37-man squad

Anderson County High School baseball coach Dennis Toia enters his first season, stressing fundamentals and physical maturation. The 37-man roster features 11 lettermen including seven starters led by seniors Stevenson, Nunguesser, Hacker, Hermreck, Yoder, Pracht, and sophomore Ryman. Pitching strength is noted as only one pitcher departed from last year. The team trains indoors amid spring weather with two batting cages and ample throwing space.

Anderson County softball eyes regional title run

Special to The Herald Garnett Anderson County High School aims for a regional title in May after finishing one win short last year. Third year coach Randy Weimer relies on seniors from his first team, including ace pitcher Jordan Krause who hopes to become the county’s all time wins leader with a 1.58 ERA. Key seniors Raleigh Maloan Melissa Willard and Tracy Rockers lead a 21 player squad, with juniors Danielle Lickteig and Megan Poss sharing pitching duties when Krause rests. The team returns three hitters above .300 and plans aggressive base running after stealing 54 bases last season, adapting from the Frontier to the Pioneer League while facing many former foes.
