Lawrence Thayer six months old of Watervliet apparently swallowed a tiny toy baseball bat while playing. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Samaritan Hospital. A coroner’s inquest in Rensselaer County was awaited to determine ruling on the death.
The White House has a new look as President Johnson continues planned redecorating begun during Kennedy’s Texas trip. The reception area gains a Johnson sourced marble top table and a relocated telephone, walls repainted bone white with red trim, a new red rug replaces the former green, and window curtains updated. Kennedy era mementos are removed, leaving only a few items for Johnson’s desk and shelves.
