Governor Vetoes Bill To Allow Suit by Doyle Heirs
Governor Nelson A Rockefeller vetoed a bill that would have let the heirs of State Trooper William F Doyle of Oswego sue the state in the Court of Claims for negligence in his death. Doyle was shot near Pulaski on December 14 1967 by an escapee from Marcy State Hospital. The bill would have opened suits against the state for on-duty injuries or deaths, but the Attorney General argues compensation channels provide the remedy.
