Well Digger Rescued After Sand Cave-In Near Lake Tomahawk
Raymond Fink a 31 year old well digger was buried up to his shoulders for about 14 hours in shifting sands after a cave-in near Lake Tomahawk Wisconsin. He was freed at 5 40 am and walked away with minor support saying he is fine. He was taken to Lakeland Memorial Hospital for checks as doctors noted his heart and lungs are sound. Fink recounted being trapped about 20 feet underground and thanked rescuers as a crowd watched the operation. The dramatic rescue involved fire police inmates and forest crew workers with a tunnel dug from the side to reach him. Local parish officials conducted last rites during the ordeal and a rosary was recited as the rescue continued. Fink's wife Bernice remained at the site throughout the night and returned with him to nearby Athene after the rescue.

Syracuse Banker Fatally Wounded in Bank Shooting
