Heavy winds and snow eased in the county as northern sections faced another snow day. Pulaski Academy and Central School and Sandy Creek Central School remained closed, affecting students and routines.
Washington AP President Nixon sent Congress a pledge of more jobs and better business in 1971 and vowed to use all effective powers of government to fight inflation. He rejected price wage controls while his advisers set targets for unemployment to fall to 4 percent by mid-1972 and inflation toward 3 percent.

The New York Times reports John B. Connally Jr. received at least 225000 dollars from the Sid W. Richard son Foundation during his Texas governorship. Connally has been nominated by President Nixon to be secretary of the Treasury. In Britain twenty thousand Ford production workers walked out today over a pay dispute, halting production at six plants. Ford warned losses could reach 4.8 million dollars per day as the strike spread to most of its 21 plants in the British Isles.
U S Ambassador Ellsworth Bunker left for Washington to confer with President Nixon and other officials. The trip is described as a routine weeklong visit, with a brief stop in Paris to meet Ambassador David K. E. Bruce, the U S negotiator at the Viet Nam peace talks.
Former U S Representative Martin B McKneally pleaded innocent in U S District Court to four counts alleging failure to file federal income tax returns for income totaling 78515 earned between 1964 and 1967. He appeared before Judge James T Foley following federal grand jury indictment.
