No UFOs Found Threatening U S Security

The Air Force reports it has investigated over 8,000 sightings in 16 years and found no evidence that UFOs threaten U S security. Probes since 1947 show no alien interplanetary vehicles. Dr. J Allen Hynek recently joined field investigations in Socorro New Mexico as Project Bluebook extends through 1963. 7.7 percent of 2,128 cases remain unidentified.

Ancient Vase Unearthed On Rogers Island

An amateur archaeologist found a seven inch Oriental vase on Rogers Island in the Hudson River possibly dating from the 14th to 16th century era, inscribed in Chinese and linked to a British soldier during the Revolutionary War. State and private archaeologists estimate its age and suggest it may have been a Roman Catholic altar piece brought by troops stationed at the island around 1758.

Cost of Living Edges Up in March

The consumer price index rose one-tenth of a percent in March with higher housing medical care and transportation costs offsetting lower food prices. CPI reached 107.7. Deputy Commissioner Robert J. Myers said further increases may come in April but found no serious inflation and called prices generally stable during a broad upturn.
