Narciso, formerly of 177 Hamilton Homes, now of 9 Van Wyk Road Lake Hiawatha New Jersey, was awarded the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal for a heroic but futile rescue attempt after a man jumped from the Utica Street Bridge into the Oswego River on June 19 1970. Narciso halted his car and leapt 40 feet into seven feet of water, fighting a strong current to reach the victim before losing grip. He sustained minor hip injuries but persisted before the victim was overwhelmed by the river. The ceremony took place at State University College Oswego with several officials present.
