Viet Cong reported over 1,000 U.S. and South Vietnamese casualties in attacks on 100 positions last week.
President Nixon will personally review Lt. William L. Calley Jr.’s court martial conviction for My Lai killings before any sentence takes effect. Officials say the decision was made to address public questions, not to quell a clamor, and that the president’s involvement is limited to cases with death penalties or high-ranking officers.
