Kuehl To Face Bank Holdup Charge In Milwaukee Case

Arctic Wave Races Across Northern Plains

A new cold wave raced across the northern plains threatening near blizzards in Kansas and Nebraska. The storm from Canada brought 46 degree temperature drops and caused two highway deaths with drifting snow and glazed roads. Japan resident Toshio Yokota, 30, a vagrant, confessed to stealing two arms from a 1,145 year old wooden statue in Osaka temple. He said the statue had too many arms for Buddha.

Snow and Ice Overtop Byrd Antartic Camps

The Stars and Stripes were raised at Little America as 60 feet of snow and ice cover the 1928 camp while the second camp lies about 40 feet below. Icebreaker experts seek a permanent base for the three year International Geophysical Year expedition onsite to avoid crevasses. Two 70 foot towers now only eight feet remain, and five wooden radio poles from the 1933 1935 Little America era protrude from the ice.

Wisconsin to mobilize traffic patrol for New Year weekend

State Allocates 1.36 Million Salk Polio Shots

Three Die In Madison Area Car Accidents

Madison area crashes killed three people overnight two of them sisters from Bridgeport. Chris Mohr 32 a Madison attorney and Dane County Board member died when his car overturned on Madison east limits. Caroline Bedward 15 and Joan 18 died in separate crashes on Highway 141 near Madison. MOhr and Bedwards were among others injured in the related mishap.
