Legge warns against giving government wheat to unemployed
Washington chairman cage of the farm board warned the senate agriculture committee that enacting the Capper resolution to distribute 40,000,000 bushels of the grain stabilization corporation's wheat for relief might push prices higher. He said the corporation would need to buy back much of that wheat to sustain prices, and domestic prices are about 20 cents above world levels. He noted limited consumption increase if diverted and questioned whether relief via a single commodity is as effective as broad aid.
