Check grain for insects during fall warnings
University of Nebraska extension entomologist Robert Roselle advises checking stored grain for insects several times during autumn. Fumigation is best done when grain mass temperatures stay above 70 degrees, with 80 to 90 degrees increasing effectiveness. after 70 degrees, malathion effectiveness drops. For heavy infestations of weevils, borers, or bran bugs, fumigation is advised, especially for food grains. Farmers with 1000 bushels or more may seek quotes from commercial fumigators. The Gabriels took their son Bob to Grand Island. he leaves for Lackland AFB Texas.
