Fairview residents and relatives gather for visits and meals across Lincoln, Columbus, Silver Creek, and nearby towns. The record lists multiple family dinners, housewarmings, weekend calls, and travel to games, with notes on injuries and local happenings including neighbors stuck in mud and a birthday celebration.
Two Stromsburg churches announce special services this week. The Covenant church hosts Rev. E den Lanager of Ceresco and Rev. Paul J. Johnson of Oakland Nebraska as speakers. Rev. Wilbur Nelson, the singing evangelist from East Huntington California, conducts services at the Free Mission Church.
Edsel Carlson of Stromsburg awarded the general construction contract for the new Sal em Lutheran Church. Burgesson Co. received the plumbing and heating contract. Work expected to begin immediately on the church building.
Mrs Karl Detloff and Mr and Mrs Detloff visited her sister and family in Dodge Wednesday. Neal Sandell and Irvin Scholz have volunteered for service and will leave the last of this month.
Steve Sigler reports Osceola High students held class meetings to elect officers for the new year. Plans for Homecoming with the Story Book Land theme progress as the Pep Club leads the celebration. Osceola defeats Stromsburg 13-7 and will face St. Paul next week. The district welcomes a bond issue approval for a new school building.
The Board of Education of School District 19 held its regular meeting on September 6 1955. Minutes from the previous session were read and approved.
The Osceola meeting read and approved claims totaling numerous local vendor bills. Payments include utilities, gas, repairs, office supplies, library materials, publishing and election items, insurance, bonds, and labor, with adjournment by I. D. Huston, secretary.
