Beaver Crossing Becomes Interchange Model for Beating Ghost Town Fate
Beaver Crossing Nebraska, a 460 resident town, pushed to restore an Interstate 80 interchange after plans left it without access. Led by Flowing Well Grange, they gathered petitions, data, and pressed Lincoln and Washington officials. The effort culminated in 1962 with approval, construction starting in 1964, and a 1965 ribbon cutting. The town won a national Community Progress award as a result.
