Iran invasion seen as occupation in early stages
The Musso British move on Iran resembled an occupation more than a full invasion. Small troop detachments protected industrial sites, and Bandar-Shahpur fell quickly, revealing strategic, political, and oil interests. Gallons of fuel and a 1200 mile pipeline plan surfaced amid shortages and a Senate inquiry into gas shortages and profiteering. The Atlanta mayor questioned fuel oil supply amid conflicting administration claims.
