Osceola and surrounding towns see multiple visits from notable figures and residents. King, Dey and Sipherd ventures, market notices, printing inquiries, auctions, church services, and a junior league election illustrate a busy week. The Osceola band joins Second Nebraska National Guards for Ft. Riley maneuvers.
Osceola Hardware and Furniture Company announces a timed ticket draw for a stove giveaway. On Thursday October 29 at 3 00 p m tickets are issued to applicants over eighteen. The drawn ticket holder must claim within one hour or a new drawing at 4 p m.
At the Odd Fellows meeting on Monday evening 8 A Snider was elected delegate to the Grand Lodge to meet in Lincoln next week. Josiah Locke returns from California reporting a splendid time and improved health. Snells recovering from a paralytic stroke, expected to fully recover. A bad fire occurred at a home and barn. Separator oil advertised by G T Ray & Co with a note on using seasonable oil. Dentist H art has sold out and will practice elsewhere. Dr H L McBeth takes the Hart headquarters over Osceola Bank. State Prohibition committee hires Mrs Myra Crozier to address and collect for state work at Osceola M E church next Sabbath eve October 18 with special prohibition music. Highlanders note Grampian Castle members to attend the next meeting Friday.
George M Kinley of Moline Illinois visits Osceola this week staying with Mrs. S A Snider and the Gunnell family. Cousin of the late President William McKinley and postmaster, he tours the West visiting relatives. He plans about a week in Osceola then a stay in Fairbury before returning home.
