Mrs Victor Lind services Thursday at Gass Funeral Home
Funeral services for Mrs Victor C. Lind 89 were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gass funeral home Columbus with Rev. Russell Mertz officiating and Eastern Star rites. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery. Mrs Lind born June 6 1878 at Mead lived in Columbus since 1929 with husband Victor C. Lind who died 1967. Survived by seven children, twenty one grandchildren and forty three great grandchildren, and a brother Alvin Gibson of Wahoo.

Osceola dominated St Edward on their local field 31 7 building a 25 0 halftime lead as soph quarterback Eddie Wieseman showed promise. The Bulldogs raced 65 59 and 40 yard drives with Cerny Kropatsch Bond and Augustin key plays while St Edward managed only 13 rushing yards. Osceola defense forced three fumbles and nine tackles for loss as the Beavers hit Henderson next and Silver Creek on Oct 13.

Achievement Day Set for October in Polk County
The annual Polk county home extension achievement day is Monday October 9 with a noon lunch at Bit of Sweden cafe in Stromsburg. A council meeting follows at 12 30 p.m. The public is invited to the afternoon program at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church basement Stromsburg. Guest speaker is Mrs Gladys Ellenson of the Girls Reformatory York. A tea follows the program.
