The bank explains deposits of one dollar or more earn interest credited semiannually on January and July first. It encourages young savers with a special December incentive adding twenty five cents to the deposit for accounts opened in the first four days. Parents are urged to participate.
Osceola high school crushed David City 79 to 0 in the Thanksgiving game at home. The home team, led by Rogers Timm and Stevens, dominated on offense and defense with multiple touchdowns and strong forward passes. Attendance was light due to weather as Osceola closes a successful season under coach Gelwick.
The notice outlines a packed weekly schedule at the auditorium with multiple showings, including a 8 million dollar night and a dark Master Picture on Tuesday. It lists 5 and 12 cent admissions and mentions four big pictures plus a gold watch prize.

Dr F H Oberg travels to Sargent to visit family and attend a wedding. Miss Mary Englehardt arrives from Arlington to stay with George W Englehardt. Harry Donner visits from Washington, plans Grand Island to visit relatives before returning home. Students returning to school after Thanksgiving include Helen Anderson, Marion Gillespie, Esther Campbell, Bessie Christian, Arthur Mickey, Roger and Archie Sturnevant, Howard Carson, Gladys Schwab, Mrs Claflin, and Mrs Anna Gordon. State and National Prohibition day set for December 2 in Polk county Osceola M E church at 2 30 pm led by Mrs E M Reed. Rev Clinton Fentess of Stromsburg to speak.
Mr and Mrs Nate Cunningham returned today after visiting relatives in Shelby. Mr and Mrs A M Whitehead returned from Excessor Springs Missouri where he has been treated and is feeling better. The marriage of Mrs L Ray Pheasant to Dr Desparios of Pierce occurred Thursday morning of last week and she is noted as well known.
Frank Schaal of the valley northeast of Osceola is in a precarious condition after a Saturday stroke of apoplexy. This is his second stroke and relatives hold little hope for recovery.
Durant visitor H A Elfors arrives on business. Attorney H H Campbell in Wa hoo on legal matters. A baby girl born to Mr and Mrs Herman Sarow in the valley. Lincoln travelers include Mr and Mrs P E Lindquist and Jas Mickey. Students Mabel Swanston Linda Fernandez return to school at Wahoo and Anna Ludden returns from Lincoln Thanksgiving visit. Rev Chas Koerner district superintendent of the German M E church holds quarterly meetings in the valley. Mr and Mrs W H Nichola return to Omaha from Mrs B A Hunis home. Mrs Minnie White of Omaha ends visit and returns home.
By order of the Polk County District Court Nebraska a sheriff sale is scheduled for December 7 1913 at Osceola court house. The real estate sought is the southeast quarter of section 9 township 14 north range 4 west plus the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter minus 54 acre previously deeded to Charles A Parkin. The property is owned by Burton E Wilcox H Peter Dittmer and Joseph H Tschauner following a January 26 1915 decree in favor of Richard Dahle for 7700 68 and costs. The sale is to be cash on the day and time stated with due attendance.
Delegations from Polk and Stromsburg visited the proposed Highland Cutoff route between Omaha and Grand Island. They deem the line feasible with a rough section between Dwight and Valparaiso needing work. Officials from Polk and Stromsburg and local commercial clubs push the plan with Wahoo particularly active.
The Poll county Boys and Girls Industrial Clubs announce speakers and judges for next Saturday December 4 with Prof L T Skinner and Miss Emma Ort from the State University Extension service assisting. Skinner is noted for practical industrial work and government club involvement in Washington DC. Everyone is welcome to attend the 2 pm program and see the students at work.
The Ladies' Aid Society will serve a chicken pie dinner on Wednesday December 1 at 11:30 in the M E church.
The notice lists meals including chicken pie, potatoes and gravy, cabbage salad, pickles, baked beans, jelly, bread and butter, and pies with ice cream and cake for 10 cents extra. Dinner is 25 cents and supper starts at 5 30.
The Lutheran church schedules Swedish Sunday School and Bible Classes at 10 a.m. next Sunday and divine services at 11 a.m. and 7:39 p.m. Both in Swedish. The Ladies Aid meets Thursday at 2:36 p.m. at Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Monson’s home. The Busy Bee sale is Thursday evening in the church basement offering a Christmas present. Reed, Rev E M Reed’s brother, and family arrived from York to attend morning services.
