OHS Athletes Earn State and Conference Honors
OHS senior Eric Henderson was named to the Class C-1 all state offense team by the Omaha World Herald Lincoln Journal and Star and Grand Island Independent. Henderson also made the Goldenrod East Division All Conference on offense and defense. Other OHL players named to the All Conference lists include Randy Reese Scott Conkling Lyndon Wieseman Todd Hiemer Duane Tenniges and Joe Graham. Goldenrod girls volleyball honors include Paula Smith on the East Division first team and Brenda Peterson on the second team.

Residents of Swede Haven joined the Polk County Historical Society for a November 17 business meeting and hobo party in Swede Haven. Hostesses Mildred Flodman and Myrtle Anderson led activities with readings, piano and mouthharp numbers. Prizes for best dressed hobos went to Arthur Senkbeil, his wife, and Myrtle Anderson.

Osceola begins its seventh year of wrestling under Coach Jon Habben with 16 wrestlers including state contenders Ray Johnson and Tracy Day. Clarence Jones Wins Second Five Dollar Prize

County Government Day Attracts 110 Polk County Seniors
One hundred ten seniors from Polk County high schools attended the 1977 County Government Day Program. Attorneys Alan Gless and Ron Colling organized the event which started at 10 a.m. on November 16 in the district courtroom at Osceola. The day included a mock trial demonstration, a courthouse tour, a noon lunch served by Polk Auxiliary members, and group visits to county offices before a history briefing back in the district courtroom.
