The Osceola Bulldogs finish 1960 season as conference co champions with a 6 win 3 loss record and three players on the All Conference team Bob Dinges Lester Gabriel Bruce Frizzell. The article lists full All Conference lineup and team statistics including top scorers and yardage totals.
On November ninth nineteen sixty at the High School Auditorium the FHA held a supper at 6 30 followed by a business meeting a panel discussion on developing our lasting values and then a group of games.
Linda McKeag of Osceola wins outstanding foods demonstrator at the 1960 Nebraska State Fair and earns a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago November 27 to December 2. She has demonstrated seven years and held multiple state and county awards including a $50 savings bond and a 19 jewel wrist watch.
Tom Schmoker Werner and Arthur Johansen attended the Friday funeral service for Mrs. Jeff Miller in Columbus.

Mrs W H Umshler of Chadron elected to the office succeeding as Clerk of the District Court of Dawes County last week. She had served as Deputy Clerk for three and a half years. Mrs Umshler is known here as Genevieve Hartson, daughter of Mr and Mrs F M Hartson.
The Platte Valley Association for Retarded Children meets Tuesday November 22 at 8 00 p m in Saint Anthony's Social Hall Columbus Nebraska. Guest speaker is Donald Hogg of Lincoln a social service caseworker for the Orthopedic Hospital and clinic extension programs for crippled children. All interested persons invited.
The Osceola High School band attended the third annual Nebraska State High School Marching Band Festival at Pershing Auditorium Lincoln on November 5 beginning 6 30 p.m. Twenty four of twenty nine bands competed before judges Hugh E McMillen Harold G Palmer and Leonard H Haug. Classes A B C D judged separately. Osceola earned a 2 rating.
Mr and Mrs Robert Manley of Seward left Portland Oregon November 2 with Kim Kelly the Korean baby they adopted They had awaited word since August for the baby to come and after tracing a missing visa they learned it was cabled to Korea Holt Foundation Portland notified them Kim would arrive November 1 The Manleys traveled from Oct 27 to meet their son after Mr Manley coached at Osceola Public Schools

A. F. Silber of the Lincoln social security district office says a 1961 change raises permissible annual earnings for retirees, reducing benefit loss. Beneficiaries will be notified by mail and can plan earnings, with field representatives visiting communities near Lincoln. The district office is at 400 National Bank of Commerce Building.
Scoutmasters seek three volunteers to assist about thirty boys in the Scout program. Interested persons may contact Gary Gustafson or Al Rommers. Mr and Mrs Jerry Krausnick of Tucson, Arizona stayed with Mr and Mrs Art McVeigh and Kathy during the weekend of the fifth.

Richard C. Sealey, Polk County ASC chairman, announced the ACP Development Group met October 19, 1960 to draft the 1961 county plan. The group includes ASC, Soil Conservation Service, Forestry Service, FHA and Extension Service to develop conservation practices for soil and water protection with about 50 percent cost-sharing. Applications open after January 1961. those for work before year end may be filed now at Osceola ASC office. Eligibility requires a pre-start request.
John’s Rexall Drug will sponsor a contest for children 16 and under with prizes for those receiving the most votes. To enter, pick up a nomination card at the store and have it signed by supporters. votes accrue with every penny spent on items at the store. Prizes include bicycles, a train set, a movie camera, a portable radio, a doll, and a doll carriage among others.
Central Nebraska County Welfare Directors Association holds a meeting in Grand Island with Mrs Edith Heilman Mrs Marian Cotter and Miss Ethel Gramly attending. Harry L Hines leads the session on Services for the Blind and Donald L Bumgarner participates. Afternoon focuses on Agency Interaction and Communication in Mental Health with North Platte Psychiatric Clinic staff.
Standings show Guffs Tavern and Bush Drug at 18-12 with Osceola Hardware 17-13 and John’s Rexall at 16-14. High game honors go to Wayne Stallings 232 and Mike Snodgrass 221, with Snodgrass 617 series and Stallings 579. Guffs leads team game 843 and team series 2459 with Gambles 2449 and Bush’s 2408.
Standings show TT Pin Pals vs Conrad's Ekeos and Ink Spots versus Johnson's Corvairs with mixed results. Individual leaders include Marie Meister 200 game and 464 series, Delores Watts 459 and 182, Reba Conrad 453, and high team marks Ink Spots 587 and 1600 series with Bouncers and Conrad's Ekcos close behind. Diane Mangelsen named Bowler of the Week with 91 pins over average.
Nebraska homes have received Christmas Seals by mail to fund tuberculosis control. National Honorary Chairman Steven Dohanos, a noted artist, discusses the disease’s intrusion into homes and his own battles in 1932 1941 and 1942. The appeal urges continued support and welcomes all contributions.
Mrs. Christena Jenkins known as Chris sails from Omaha to Frankfurt Germany. She will stay with SP-5 Dale Jenkins and family for an indefinite period. Jenkins hopes to visit brothers and other relatives in Sweden and plans to return someday. Her father died last year in Sweden at age 93.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary B. Garey visited Miami Beach Florida to attend the National Association of County Agricultural Agents 45th annual meeting. They were away two weeks with County Agent and Mrs. Jack Niblesick of Schuyler accompanying them.
In the league the Pin Pals beat Ink Spots 71 10 to 14 13 while Conrad's Ekcos defeated Johnson's Corvairs 14 13 and Smith's Wheat Hearts fell to Mill Rollers 10 17. High game records include Carol Schmoker 182 163 and Pat Miller 160 with Zella Kepner 153. high series goes to Carol Schmoker 447 and Helen Johnson 410. Pin Pals lead team game 574 567 with Smith's Wheat Hearts 537 and Mill Rollers 536. high team series 1670 for Pin Pals followed by 1497 for Smith's Wheat Hearts and 1488 for Mill Rollers. Bowler of the Week is Hilda Youngdahl with 89 pins over average.
