Fatal Accident Claims Frank Mercek in Clear Creek
Frank Mercek, a young Polish man from Clear Creek precinct, died last Saturday while helping to place a foundation under a house. The old rotted foundation gave way, the house settled, and a stone pinned him, crushing him instantly. Friends opened a floor to recover the body. funeral services were Sunday at the Polish Catholic Church in Clear Creek precinct.

Obituary for W. L. Howland of Ogallala
Friends from Ogallala brought home the body of W L Howland who died from a railway accident and exposure near the town. A Sunday funeral at the M E church was led by Rev Emtree with the Royal Highlanders and Modern Woodmen in attendance. Howland, a popular young man, had not planned to go to California and died after an incident on a westbound train at 3 a m. He was found at 7 a m with both legs crushed and succumbed Friday morning after cold, blood loss, and shock.

James Robinson who took his own life last week in Pleasant Home precinct was buried Sunday in Osceola cemetery. The funeral was held at Walter Jarmin’s home in the county’s southwest, with the Modern Woodmen leading the burial service and Rev. Embree conducting the services.
