A blaze Monday consumed the Farmers Elevator building and its contents, with 2400 bushels of wheat, 1700 bushels of corn, and 120 bushels of oats burning. The building and equipment were valued at 57 779 dollars, with about 40 000 dollars of insurance. Directors awoke to the flames as the manager notified them, and the stockholders will meet soon to discuss rebuilding plans.
Gresham closes Sunday services and moves to Weyland next week with Rev Nelson to preach. Andrew Peterson and family visited Ed Clothes home north of Shelby. John Law returns from Illinois with Mrs Law's sister staying for winter. Hog market activity noted in Omaha. Numerous local visits and a large lecture at Gresham Saturday evening.
A large attentive Sabbath audience welcomed the pastor Theo J Asmus as he preached True Greatness in the morning service. The music featured a solo by Miss Troup and an anthem by the choir, described as delightful. Everybody welcome to the Sunday services.

The Haloween social hosted by the Ladies Association received strong approval. The prayer meeting Friday night featured a sermon on next Sunday's topic Segus Treatment of Binners.
Two car loads of heifer and steer calves will be sold at Theaings Feed Barn in Stromsburg on Saturday November 11 at 10 o'clock. All stock is described as good. Auctioneer Joen Nga SQLSQN is listed.
Mrs. A W Tilley of Osceola reports the death of her brother Charles Hanson at a Edmonton Canada hospital on October 1 at age about 69. Born in Sweden he emigrated to the United States in the 1860s and lived in Keokuk Iowa Polk County Swede Home area Stromaburg before returning to Sweden and later moving to Canada. He leaves a wife two daughters and two sisters Mrs A W Tilley Osceola and Mrs Larson Topeka Kansas.
