Hon Wilber M Johnston of the city received a telegram from George L Von Meyer chairman of the Roosevelt campaign committee. It requests his services on the committee to nominate Roosevelt for president. Johnston wired acceptance and will travel to Chicago early this week for the outline of his work. His friends hail the endorsement of his long standing advocacy of Roosevelt principles.
Word arrived of a severe incident in Shelby Saturday. The child of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Severs was knocked down by an auto as she tried to pass the vehicle. Both wheels passed over her, causing injuries whose full extent remains uncertain.
The A O U W lodge of this city schedules a June 6th celebration marking the order’s start in Nebraska. Deputy Grand Master Frank Simmons will attend, a sizable class will be received, and a large banquet will follow. Committees work to ensure a memorable event with an all around good time.

Estrayed last week from pasture of H. L. Olcott in 21-16-1 on Clear Creek, a dark red steer calf about 550 pounds with horns, ring cut, and a lower side right ear. Notify A. M. Bittner, Rising City, Nebraska.

The Ladies Aid of the M. E. Church invites May 30th attendees to a dinner at 4 30 p m serving roast pork with brown gravy cream potatoes cabbage salad baked beans deviled eggs pickles jelly coffee and desserts 25 cents for the dinner and extra for ice cream and cake
Osceola Lodge No. 326 A O U W invites Workmen from other lodges to an open meeting and banquet to mark the Nebraska Jurisdiction’s 30th anniversary. The event next week Tuesday June 6 at I O O F Hall begins with a banquet and meal at 6 30 with ladies welcome.
The program for Decoration Day Tuesday May 30 forms at 2 p.m. in front of the G A R Hall led by Marshal Dr M M W Byers. The parade proceeds to the Auditorium for 2:15 events including music readings and addresses. Graves at the cemetery will be decorated by children and post members with flags and flowers. a cenotaph, salute, and taps follow.
