The local millinery season opens with Mrs. D. B. Eaton promoting spring goods in Osceola. The bride wore white silk mustin and roses. the bridesman carried yellow roses. The couple left for their new home on the morning train amid well wishes from Rev. Geo A. Smith and local guests and travelers.

Most Unique Exposition to Open in Omaha 1899

The exposition opens July 1 in Omaha Nebraska and closes November 1 1899. It promises the nation’s most unique and successful fair with industrial, agricultural, mining, and arts displays. A war relic collection arrives direct from battlefields and colonial exhibits from the Philippines Cuba and Hawaii will feature natives in their habitats amid tropical foliage. Excellent musical talent includes Loudon’s best band.

Visit of Mrs Keene Ludden and family in Gresham

Mrs. Keene Ludden and son George visited friends in Gresham the first of the week. Bennie Mickey aged eleven was thrown from a horse last Monday evening, dislocating and breaking his right elbow. Dr. Mills set the limb and reports him as well as could be expected. Eastern Star elected and installed officers last Tuesday evening with Susan Whaley as Worthy Matron and H A Scott as Worthy Patron among others.

Osceola Bride Bertha Mickey Weds Herbert Smith in May 1899

In Osceola Nebraska on May 24 1899 Miss Bertha E Mickey marries Herbert O Smith of Lincoln at the bride’s parents home. Rev George A Smith officiates with Marie Mickey at the piano Warren Abbott and Nellie McPherrie as attendants. Nearby reception follows and both families praise the couple. Later notes tell of Uncle Stephen Fleharty’s death in Waynesville North Carolina at 63 and summarize his Osceola years and career.
