Can We Afford the King Anderson Bill

A reader shares family strain from rising health costs and supports President Kennedy’s proposed Health Insurance Plan for the Aged. The plan funds hospital care for the elderly via Social Security, funded by $1 monthly from workers and employers, aiming to relieve families and ensure future self reliance.

Your Doctor's Answer to the Kennedy Health Plan

A conservative critique of the King Anderson Bill argues against funding expanded elderly health care by higher Social Security taxes. It asserts that most seniors are financially secure and would receive benefits regardless, while payroll taxes would burden workers for benefits available to those who can pay themselves. It warns of long term deficits and calls for resisting a universal health program.
