Good Will Pickup by Scout Troop 162 Scheduled May 21
Boy Scout Troop 162 will pick up for Good Will Industries on Saturday morning May 21 starting at 9 a.m. Usable clothing appliances and household furnishings should be boxed or bagged and placed on the front porch or yard for easy sighting by the Scouts. Osceola’s Little Eight League begins next week with seven Osceola entries across baseball and softball. Games run May 25 to 27 at the fairgrounds, featuring varied age groups and a 14 game schedule for older squads. Polk County Receives Extra 24000 For Drought Conservation
The Nebraska ASC Committee designates Polk County for additional drought relief funds under the DFCP and ACP. Up to 80 percent cost sharing is available for practices including water development, irrigation modifications, permanent vegetative cover, windbreaks, terraces, diversions, water management, and catchments. Applications opened May 13, 1977 with USDA Soil Conservation Service providing technical help.

Osceola Pool Renovation Plans Discussed By Board
New pool members of the Osceola Park Board attended a Nebraska Game and Parks Commission meeting in Lincoln on Friday May 13. The commission approved the pool renovation project and funding prospects look favorable from federal and state sources. If approvals come, Osceola may have a new pool by 1979 with federal review due in late 1977. The current pool from the 1920s has served the town but faces ongoing problems the board hopes to fix with funding.

Osceola Schools End Summer Term With May 20 Dismissal
The Osceola Public Schools end the school year on Friday May 20 with a 2:00 p.m. bus final run. Report cards will be handed out 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday May 21 at both buildings. Parents should clear library fines damages and lunch charges before the 21st. Kindergarten attends morning session on May 20 and leaves at 2:00 p.m. A grade school picnic at the park will follow a 11:00 bus departure. Elementary teachers supervise activities until 1:30 p.m. then children ride buses back to Jeffrey Elementary for dismissal.
