Stromsbare Vet Receives Purple Heart Honor

G de Eelstrand of Stromsburg will be among six Nebrinsky Capitol Division members awarded the Purple Heart at an Elks event in Lincoln on March 18. The badge honors meritorious action, and the note recalls Washington’s original purpose and the division’s Verdun entry on March 16, 1918. Ekstrand, wounded in Meuse Argonne, served with the 75th Company, Sixth Marines.

Jeff Jarmin and family moved to a farm southwest of Shelby to assist Harry Lees. Powell of Grand Island visited Mrs Hanser and returned home. Barney and Arthur Krebsbach visited Columbus and Mrs Albert Bernt recovering from surgery. A seven-pound baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Kenneth Taddiken. An agreement among the Farm Bureau Taxpayers League and County Commissioners keeps the county agent office for a year. Polk County pays 1060 for upkeep and rooms in the courthouse. Miss Cook remains as part time assistant at a reduced salary. The 1933 budget suit by the Farm Bureau against the commissioners will be dismissed.

Sunday School Lesson Addresses Intemperance Curse

Changes in water ordinance at city council meeting

At a special city council meeting the water ordinance was revised. The new rule charges customers for actual water used, with eight dollars buying 20 thousand gallons per year. Previously summer usage was penalized while winter usage earned no rebate. the change reduces consumer costs though rates stay the same.

Ladies Chorus Here Next Sunday Osceola Concert

The Chaminede Ladies' Chorus from Wahoo Nebraska will perform in Osceola at St Pauls Lutheran Church Sunday at 3:00 PM. The 24 member group, students at Luther College, touring spring concerts, offers a free admission with a supporting offering.
