Spring nitrogen applications outperform fall for wheat protein

Phosphate best results come from broadcasting and working in before drilling or applying at planting with a drill attachment. Spring topdressing without in-soil incorporation is much less effective and not recommended.

Haythorn Family Ranch History in Arthur County
The Haythorns built a large ranch south west of Arthur beginning in the 1890s and expanded to about 50 000 acres by World War II. Haythorn Sr. started in yeast ranching, then bought land and paid in cattle to stock his holdings. The 1913 blizzard nearly wiped out 800 cattle but the family persisted. In the 1930s cattle and land investments faltered before recovery. Harry Jr. moved to town and Waldo took over active management.
