Emma Jane Mills, born November 25 1854 in Hickville Ohio, died March 5 1934 at Osceola Nebraska after hip fracture illness. Wife of M A Mills mother of seven with six surviving children Frank Blanche Rickly Tom Webster Ralph died 1895, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral held March 7 1934 at the Mills home with Rev W H Wright. burial in Osceola family lot.

Mrs. Peter Elfors broke her hip returning from a neighbor's porch and convalesces at her daughter in law's home. Auxiliary members attended the District Legion convention in David City and the Drum Corps performed there. Several Stromsburg residents visited Lincoln and Omaha, as pastor Hedberg arrived to lead First Baptist services. The high school basketball team finished its season with a win over Osceola and heads to Grand Island regional tourney. Fire damaged the Peter Widga property, badly soaking roof and interior.

Polk county farm women are invited to join a Home Beautification Contest sponsored by the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation. Submit three photos showing before, mid, and final results plus a letter of explanation. Prizes range from 5 dollars to 1 dollar with 75 points for pictures and 25 for the letter. Entries due by October 31, 1934, with details at the Osceola county farm bureau extension office.

After a recent meeting the Osceola Community Club guaranteed the county farm's first year lease for an airport. The city council then leased the land from county commissioners for one year with a five year option. Government assurance confirms the airport will proceed and remaining funds will be spent.

Miscellaneous showers honor Miss Herrmann prior to wedding

William Clinton Pike Sr born February 10 1848 in Lawrenceburg Indiana died March 2 1934 at age 86 after a life as a harness maker and farmer. He lived in Eddyville Marysville Osceola and Imogene with wife Jennie Ulsh Pike and nine other relatives. Funeral held March 4 at Marysville Methodist Church with Rev Judson T. Perkins officiating. Burial in Marysville Cemetery.
