A long list of social activities fills an Osceola society page as families and guests gather across nearby towns. Notable visits include A J Chantry of Omaha, C V Sullivan of Lincoln, and multiple in town hosts with dinners, coffees, and church events. The Valley Society plans a March 7 meeting led by Mrs. Lynda Burritt.
A Nebraska reader warns against LB 368 removing the brake-control device requirement for detached trailers. The note urges motorists to contact the Public Works Committee before the February 28 public hearing to protect highway safety.
Osceola residents hosted guests from Bettendorf Stromsburg Kearney and Fullerton over the weekend. Numerous local households shared Sunday meals and social visits with relatives and friends listed in the local society notes.
OES Kensington met Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Darrell Atkinson at her country home. Eight members attended as Mrs. Jack Burger led the business session. Plans were made for a card party March 29 at the Masonic Hall with cards prizes and lunch.
Myrtle White reports a business meeting where plans for the annual dance were set and Gary Ferris along with G W Grosch joined the force. A large birthday anniversary event at Stromsburg’s Viking Center drew 75 guests, with afternoon card games.
The Wesley Chapel Club met February 21 at Mrs. Harry Brazee’s home with co host Mrs. Clarence Burke. Thirteen members answered roll call and discussed crafts and entertainment for the Samaritan Home. Dorothy Nelson presented a lesson on dress costs and safety hints. The group noted Merrick County Home maker Day on March 6 and a March 21 meeting at Edith Richards’ home with Lillian Dawes assisting.
Wayland residents report visits and gatherings. Ronald and Ronald Eklund traveled to Philadelphia to see Reg Eklund family. Numerous Osceola York and Stromsburg attendees at banquets church events and anniversaries.
Mrs Lavina Kopke and Jim Johnson from Ocean Side California are listed among visitors. Mr and Mrs Elroy Hoffman and other relatives visit Osceola and York grandparents, while Penny and Todd Jacobsen of York spend time with the Hoffmans. Family social events include a Golden Wedding anniversary and Sabine Watts’s ninth birthday noted in Shelby.
