A severe storm Friday June 2 dumped up to 4.5 inches of rain in parts of the county, with the northeast seeing the heaviest downpour. The Clear Creek precinct and Lone Star Store area suffered the most damage including washing of fields, washed grades, and flooded lowlands. Crops, wheat and corn, were heavily damaged and bridges were few but culvert damage was widespread. Rain totals in Osceola reached 1.92 inches at Harold Klingman’s station with nearby readings near three inches. Over 20 inches have fallen in 1957 to date.
