Local business leaders urge Osceola merchants to form a cooperative advertising group to draw more county seat trade. A. O. Monson & Co. works to offer low prices and honorable service while promoting Osceola against outside competition. Store hours extended toJuly 4th.
Fragmentary notes mention an elevator company and grain market activity, with scattered items about sales, prices, and local trades. The text also references individuals and trips to Lincoln and Iowa, plus a Mason group event and family visits.
Osceola to host the best Fourth of July celebration within twenty five miles with a full day of events. A grand parade at 11 a.m. features local organizations and businesses, plus Rodger's Bros show and cinegraph moving pictures. Fireworks, a bowery dance, and an oration by Rev. J. W. Embree are on the program with bands, sports, and community gatherings noted throughout.
A Shelby July Fourth program lists sunrise gun salutes, parade, tent services, music, readings, and a 1:30 p.m. dinner with prizes, fireworks, and dancing. A wedding in Osceola unites Maud Gray and Victor Newcomer with a simple roses-decorated reception and hopeful vows.
Sealed proposals are due July 10 at noon for erecting an Auditorium Building in Osceola Nebraska. Plans available at M Leader Architect Lincoln Neb and Bank of Polk County Osceola. Bids may be rejected. Address bids to Gr T Arnold President Osceola Neb.
Myra Adell Starr born Columbus Ohio August 24 1840 moved with family to Tipton Iowa at age eight. She married David Foy February 16 1865. six children and husband plus three sisters survive. She died at home in Platte precinct after Brights disease long illness. Funeral held at First Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon.
