Memorial services held for Olive Green in Stromsburg
Memorial services were held June 8 at Anderson funeral chapel in Stromsburg for Olive M. Green of Lincoln who grew up there. She was born Sept 11, 1879, oldest of four children of Joseph and Shaw, married Clarence Green in 1898 and later moved to Lincoln. Burial was in Stromsburg Cemetery. Survivors include her son Kenneth and sister Mrs Otto Wegmann.

Polk County Floodwater Structures Showcase Community Effort
Several floodwater retarding structures built over the past three years in Polk County protect about 9700 acres, combine flood control with grade stabilization and wildlife recreation, and reduce road damages. Projects include Upper Clear Creek dam near Osceola and two Jones Creek structures. county officials, farmers, and ASCS pooling and SCS engineering support funded construction.
