The Alabama Democrat plank on expansion wins praise from Southern papers like the Louisville Courier-Journal which says it reflects a rebirth of policy guiding the region toward vast commerce. Former Governor Wilson of West Virginia argues expansion strengthens national prosperity and warns against opposing it. The Southern mood favors growth and trade, complicating Kansas City platform talks.
The Democratic populist county convention met at Osceola on Saturday to order at 2 PM. Howard Warner and E A Walrath were named temporary chair and secretary as credentials were reviewed, then permanent organization followed. Delegates to the state convention were elected with many named participants, and a conference committee on county officers and a senatorial candidate was requested.
Delegates wrangled through a noisy convention with a deadlock on state senate choices. After turbulent ballots, Chas Krumbach was endorsed for state senator, while J E Peterson's bid was opposed. The county convention adjourned as the Southwest commissioners renominated Geo Maries for commissioner.

A mass democratic convention met in the county judge's office on Saturday afternoon June 2. J. C. Logue chaired. Henry Burritt elected secretary. A conferences committee was appointed to meet with a populist committee. The ballot for Senator was adopted with Chas Krumbach receiving unanimous support. Delegates were chosen for both state and congressional conventions.
