Nationwide feed grain plans would trim combined planted area to about 113 million acres for 1968, led by a 6 million acre drop in corn and 2.2 million fewer sorghums. Record farmer signups divert over 34 million acres to conservation, with yields and carryover affecting total supply. Prices show mixed changes with corn rising above loan rate, exports up about 10 percent largely from corn.

Wheat program debated by National Advisory Committee on Grains

The U S Department of Agriculture advisory panel in Washington proposed a 50 to 100 million bushel reduction for the 1969-70 wheat carryover. They urged continued use of marketing certificates and the wheat-feed grain substitution, noting rising 1968-69 carryover and favorable 1968 crop prospects.
