Beatrice Home reform urged by Nebraska panel
A 55 page report by a 12 member Nebraska citizen committee calls for major reforms in Beatrice State Home care. It urges reducing residents to 850 within six months, creating regional mental health centers, reorganizing the state institutions department, charging schools for educating Beatrice Home residents, and pursuing private contracts to unlock federal funds. Governor Tiemann backs implementation with urgency on overcrowding and funding.
