State extension leader to visit Osceola for public speaking event
Miss Mary Ellen Brown, state extension leader of womens project clubs, will visit Osceola on Saturday July 23 to attend the county Public Speaking contest and speak on her Europe trip. She will use a film strip. The event, at 2 pm in the district courtroom, features judges Helen Suchy and two Dodge county project club leaders. Contestants on "Better Schools for Rural America" include Mrs Arvid Peterson Osceola Mrs Glenn Hill Polk and Miss Shirley McMeekin Shelby.

Bert Lewis and sons are building a new house one block west of the square near their filling station. Albert Ryan has bought the former M E Bivens building to remodel into a barber shop and residence. Jean Harvey returned to Lincoln Saturday after two weeks with the Rogers family. Mr and Mrs Charles Rogers and family of Council Bluffs plan a visit to their parents, the E L Rogers. Mrs E Rogers traveled to Columbus to be with her sister Mrs Henry Jirod for several days during Mr Jirod’s major surgery.
