A crowded column lists residents visiting relatives in Osceola and surrounding towns, road notices and medical ads. Names include Miss Laura Whaley, Miss Grace Pratt, Mrs. G. W West, Rev. Franklin Lohr, and R. A. Mills, with items on Beggs Diarrhoea Balsam and Kunkel drug store supplies.
Registered thoroughbred Poland Chinas of both sexes offered for sale at a farm in Island precinct. Described as large curly strain stock from September 1st to December 1st. Seller William Endorf, Columbus Nebraska.
A large crowd welcomed the first day of racing with events starting at 2:30. Comptine Jr. won the 2:30 trot easily across four heats, with Tootsie R a close second in heat two and Fannie KR fourth in another heat. Roby, from Council Bluffs, won the 2:32 pace heat. Emerald narrowly beat Mattie Powell in the half mile repeat race. Three races are planned for this afternoon with a 2:38 trot and a mile run, promising another strong program.
An old advertisement offers a free book from Dr B J Kay of Saratoga New York claiming cures for kidney diseases back ache and similar ailments. The notice mentions druggists and mail delivery for the book.

Tarble hosted guests from Lincoln earlier in the week. Dr. J. A. Inks returned from a Kansas City visit Monday evening. M. E. Cunningham came back from Ashland Saturday evening. Rev. E. Ball left for Roseland to assume parish duties Wednesday. Miss Carrie Rutter returned to Illinois Tuesday after visiting her uncle Theodore Rutter.
Albert Ryan sues in Polk county Nebraska to quiet title and reform a deed. He seeks to exclude the Fleharty and related defendants from any interest in Lot 6, Block 6, original Osceola, and to replace the deed with one listing Wescot Floyd Miller as grantor. Respond by Monday August 20.
