Polk County Fair Hosts Beauty Pageant July Start
At a board meeting in Polk County, the fair opens with a beauty pageant on August 25. The Nebraska State Fair Association sponsors pageants to pick a Nebraska representative for Atlantic City, New Jersey. Last year Missouri won. this year Nebraska is favored. The Polk winner earns a trip to the State Fair, all expenses paid, and the State winner goes to Atlantic City with all expenses paid for the Miss America title. Funeral Services for Mrs Tom Reece Held in Osceola
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Osceola for Mrs Tom Reece who died July 10 at Immanuel hospital. She was 33 and is survived by her husband Thomas A. Reece of Shelby, her father Charles Potter of Rogers Arkansas, three brothers Ralph Paul and Harold, and several other relatives. She was active in multiple churches and honored by Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor lodges.

Mrs. D. P. Clifford Dies In Seward Nebraska
Mrs. Dan P. Clifford formerly of Lincoln and Cheyenne died Monday in Seward Nebraska after leaving Lincoln ten years ago by marriage. Her maiden name was Eva Anderson known as Andy she served as home demonstration agent for Polk county while A. E. Sheldon was county agent. She is survived by her husband a young son four sisters and a brother. The body will be taken to Cheyenne for funeral and burial.

Passing of Mrs August Anderson Polk County Pioneer
Mrs Clara Anderson a Polk County pioneer has died aged 79 years 11 months and 24 days. She lived on the Swede Home farm with daughter Esther Lundgren and will be buried in the Swede Home family lot. She was born in Svinhult Ostergotland Sweden on July 19 1866 and came to America in 1872 settling first in Galva Illinois then Nebraska in 1875. She married August Anderson on February 17 1879 and had eleven children six survive. Funeral services will be at the Swede Home home and church Thursday at 2 and 2 30 led by Rev Paul Melin.

Funeral services for Olaf Hult 89 Polk County pioneer were held at Victor Anderson Chapel and Swedish Baptist Church in Stromsburg. Born in Sweden in 1847 he immigrated to America in 1866 settled in Galesburg Illinois then Polk County Nebraska in 1872 before moving to Oregon and California. He died Friday and is survived by son Lawrence Hult of California and daughters Irma Hult and Mrs John Fredrickson of Lincoln. Burial followed at Swede Home Cemetery.

Funeral services for John A Gustafson were held at the Free Mission Church. Born in Sweden he immigrated to Polk County Nebraska in 1879 and died July 7 at age 81 after years of ill health. Survivors include his wife. six sons Kell of Osceola David and Reuben of Fremont Harry of Pierre Chauncey of Clarks. four daughters Mrs Albert Sundberg Mrs Ellen Rogers Mrs George Lindblade and Mrs F R Burgeson. Interment in Stromsburg cemetery.

Nebraska counties will get an initial 275 dividend from the Ak-Sar-Ben race meet tax. J B Rossiter says county fairs will also receive a second distribution at year end.
