Reporter Lange Arrested on Blackmail Charge in Chicago
Theodore Lange, a Chicago German papers reporter, is jailed on a 5000 dollar bond for blackmail after letters to Mrs. Sophia Schmidt extorted 22000 dollars by threatening exposure of her alleged life insurance fraud. Schmidt arranged a meeting, with a detective arresting Lange and Schmidt. In Bakersfield California N Genziles and his wife were arrested. he on rape charges and she as an accomplice. The 12 year old victim Maria Gonzales testified and the case involves Mexican defendants. The woman posted 500 dollar bail. Ther man remains in custody.
