An Osceola communication dated June 28 1880 signed Property owners with no Insurance warns parents and others to curb careless use of firecrackers torpedoes and fireworks under sidewalks and in alleys. It notes towns without fire departments are vulnerable to fires and urges a vigilant citizens committee to oversee the next few days.
The Brownville Advertiser reports Gov Furnas and wife attending the marriage of their daughter to Rev Little of Omaha presiding. The ceremony occurred at eleven with a wedding bell and floral décor, followed by a lavish reception. The bride wore brown grosgrain silk. the groom in a black Prince Albert. The couple departed by train at two for Osceola.
Fragmentary line evokes a boat voyage along time with wishes for safety from adversity winds and enduring courage.
Civil actions include Citizen Savings Loan Association versus G Lebs with verdict for defendant and motion for new trial sustained. Other cases: Walton v Henry, deed set aside. Osceola Nebraska June 21 1880 the board of equalization met to adjust Polk county assessments for 1880 with full board and clerk present. Sessions continued through June 22 23 24 25 culminating in raised land and horse valuations across precincts including Osceola Stromsburg Pleasant Home Hackberry Clear Creek Platte Valley Island Stromsburg and final adjustments on Stromsburg town lands and clerical corrections.
Land Office in Lincoln Nebraska announces that Margreta Merrick has filed for final proof to support her homestead claim No 15828 for the Nk W4 Sec 6 Town 141 W. Final proof is set for Tuesday July 2 1880 before the Polk County Nebraska Clerk, with witnesses Milon Kinney Joseph Allen Frank Stone and J Jarmin all of Osceola Polk County Nebraska.
Land Office at Grand Island Nebraska announces Erhard Hatz has filed for final proof to perfect his entry No 2816 in the South half of section 14 town 16 north range 2 west. The hearing will be before the Clerk of the District Court Polk County at the county seat on July 6 1880 witnesses John Ernst William Ernst August Krueger and Henry Fickel from Duncan Platte County Nebraska.
