Osceola to Get 90 New Street Lights Under Contract
The City of Osceola will replace 90 street lights over three years under a contract with Consumers Public Power District. Consumers will install 30 lights per year with mercury vapor fixtures. Installation will be sectioned by area and billed to the city light bill on an apportioned basis.

City Receives $15 778 24 Sales Tax Refund Hopeful Funds
City Clerk Fred Bond announced a 15778 24 check from Nebraska was received January 21 as Osceola’s share of statewide sales tax refunds. The funds replace former tangible personal property and per head taxes and flow into 23 mill levy funds. Osceola’s portion is part of Polk County’s 66000 allocation with 52800 for four county towns and 20 percent to the county proper.

City considers traffic limits on Kimmel Street near schools
Citizens and law enforcement urge the City Council to study restricting traffic on Kimmel Street between the High School and Grade School. Bloodmobile to visit Osceola High Monday for blood donations
